Malibu Legacy Smith is a 2026 filly bred remarkably close to one of the most successful mares in international showjumping.
She is by Chippendale Z and out of Cava R Z, making her a three-quarter sister to Daniel Coyle’s 1.60m mare, Legacy.
Legacy competed at the World Championships, European Championships and the Paris Olympic Games, finishing 10th individually at the 2022 World Championships. She also won major five-star World Cups in Toronto, Leipzig and Amsterdam, alongside victories in London and Fort Worth.
Malibu carries that same Chippendale Z blood, combined with Corrado I and Cassini I through her dam line.

The assessment
Malibu is a three-quarter sister to Legacy, the 1.60m Grand Prix mare campaigned by Daniel Coyle. That relationship gives her an unusually strong point of reference: this is not simply a pedigree built on potential, but a breeding combination closely connected to a mare that has already performed at the highest level.
For us, Malibu has stood out from the beginning. She has a particularly attractive model, with good proportions, a beautiful head and a naturally elegant, feminine type. She has a star and snip, plenty of presence and the sort of conformation we want to see in a filly intended for both sport and future breeding.
She has also been very straightforward to manage. Her temperament has been easy and uncomplicated from the start, with nothing to work around or make allowances for. A full foal clinical vetting has been completed, with normal and positive findings. She is the only foal in the current collection to have been vetted at this stage, and the report is available to serious buyers.
What makes Malibu particularly interesting is the combination of pedigree, type and future value. As a filly, she offers the potential to be produced for sport while retaining considerable value later as a broodmare.
